A LITTLE ABOUT ME

My name is Athena, I'm a yoga teacher who eats romance novels for breakfast, listens to a lot of country pop and laughs the absolute loudest. And I believe there's a yoga practice for everyone. I believe that practice is a unique blend of how we live, how we move, how we eat, how we connect with ourselves and our environment - and the others who share it. And I believe that practice is foundational, something that we build on from the ground up - we are the catalyst of our most profound change. And we are the most perfect we could possibly be.

There's a flow of influence between creativity and practice, one that informs us of what it is to honor our truest nature. With over 3000 hours of teaching experience, as an ERYT500 I have seen the power, the magic and the lasting effects tapping into that connection can have on individuals as well as their communities. I hope you'll come move, create, explore and investigate with me - be silly, get real and know it's all welcome and accepted here.

Looking for More Ways to Get Involved?

I appreciate any and all support - by donating to our Kickstarter, sharing this website with your friends and family, or purchasing from my small shop! But there are other ways you can help grow Sweetie's and the Retreat & Rescue, too. And those start right at home, with you - and you don't need to climb mountains to make a difference.

Read on for ideas!

The Beauty is in the Journey

maybe these ideas can make the scenery even sweeter

01

Consider Supporting Good Packs

By lending your purchasing power to Good Packs, you're helping provide survival and comfort to your community in times of crisis. Good Packs recognizes that individuals and families have diverse needs and responds to them with compassion. Most shelters do not allow dogs or cats. And many people choose not to enter them because of the heart wrenching decision to have shelter, or have their dog. Homelessness is caused by many reasons, and those experiencing it - domestic violence survivors, victims of natural disasters and people experiencing mental crisis will never have to say goodbye to their beloved pets because of your generosity when you choose to support Good Packs. Your donation will keep families together, and have a real impact for those in need.

You can donate to Good Packs by clicking here:

03

Be A Learner

The best way to do that is to set aside what we think we know, try new and difficult things, listen to our community, and respond thoughtfully.

Take a yoga class, or an art class, or heck even a financing class, volunteer at your local homeless shelter or church, start training for that 5k you always wanted to do - surprise yourself with what inspires you! And notice how by inspiring yourself, you inspire others to seek what fulfills them too.

Ultimately, what's good for you is also good for your neighbors.

02

Visit Your Local Humane Society

Those furry faces are so hard to resist! But your local Humane Society would love your support even if you don't have the ability to adopt. By volunteering your time you can make a huge difference for the animals waiting for their furever families. Donations to your local Humane Society are always considerate, and can include food, leashes, litter, toys, monetary donations, any time you're able to spare, and more.

Taking pictures and videos of the furiends you make there is fun social media content - and it also goes a long way in introducing your pal to their future family.

Contact your local Humane Society to find out how you can help!

04

Support Small Business

We all have to start somewhere. While it's easy to shop on Amazon or Shein, it's harder, and much more impactful, to put our money where our mouth is. We don't have to go broke doing it, though. We can promote our friends and families' small businesses locally and on social media. We can practice mindful money manners and bring meaning to our purchases. We can eliminate the junk that weighs us down by donating to and shopping at your local thrift store. We don't have to buy something just to buy it, and by doing that you're helping the little guy out. Make your wallet matter, however great or small it may appear, and by doing that you're making a signifiant difference to your community.

I'm So Happy You Stopped By!

I welcome you to reach out with questions or comments, or photos, videos and memories of your fuzzy family members! With your permission, I'd love to share them on my FriendsOfSweetie instagram page.

From the bottom of my heart, I deeply thank you for your contribution and participation. Until we meet again my friends,

Namaste🫶
